Principal's Message

Hello Castelar Parents, Guardians and School Community Partners,

My name is Amy Luu and I am so honored to be able to serve you, our students, families and community members at Castelar Street Elementary.

With so much uncertainty in this world, our goals this year is to create and sustain a robust learning experience for our students during distance learning. That means rethinking what teaching and learning looks like this year while still retaining the rigor needed for students’ mastery of essential content standards. I am also an advocate of social-emotional learning and especially during these times, it is so important for us to be mindful that we must take care of our heart as well as our mind.

In time, I hope to be able to meet with you, face to face, to share about my own experiences growing up in Chinatown and what an absolute honor it is to be able to give back to this community that has given me so much.

Let’s navigate these uncharted waters together and support our students to have a productive and safe distance learning experience. This year will be amazing, like always. Let’s goooooooo Dragons!

我的名字是劉仕鳳 (Amy Luu),  我很榮幸能夠在嘉士德樂小學為您們, 我們的學生, 家庭和社區成員服務.

在這個充滿不确定性的世界中, 我們今年的目標是為我們的學生在遠程學習期間創造並保持一個良好的學習体驗. 這意味著我們要重新思考在遠程學習中我們的學生的教學和學習情況. 同時仍要保持對學生掌握基本內容標準的嚴格要求, 還要重新思考今年的教學和學習應該是什麼樣子. 我也是社交情緒學習的倡導者, 尤其是在這种時侯, 我們必須意識到我們必須照顧好我們的心靈和我們的思想, 這一點也很重要的.

我希望能及時與你們見面, 面對面, 分享我自己在華埠成長的經歷, 以及能夠回饋這個給了我這么多的社區, 我感到非常榮幸.

讓我們一起來探索這些未知的領域, 並支持我們的學生可以獲得一個高效和安全的遠程學習体驗. 像往常一樣, 今年將是精彩的一年. 讓我們一起前進吧, 小龍仔!

Hola padres, tutores y socios de la comunidad escolar de Castelar,

Mi nombre es Amy Luu y me siento muy honrada de poder servirles a ustedes, nuestros estudiantes, familias y miembros de la comunidad en Castelar.

Con tanta incertidumbre en este mundo, nuestro objetivo este año es crear y mantener una experiencia sólida de aprendizaje para nuestros estudiantes durante el aprendizaje a distancia. Eso significa repensar cómo es la enseñanza y el aprendizaje este año y, al mismo tiempo, conservar el rigor necesario para que los estudiantes dominen los estándares de contenido esencial. También soy una defensora del aprendizaje socioemocional y especialmente durante estos tiempos, es muy importante para nosotros ser conscientes de que debemos cuidar nuestro corazón y nuestra mente.

Con el tiempo, espero poder reunirme con ustedes, cara a cara, para compartir mis propias experiencias al crecer en Chinatown y qué gran honor es poder retribuir a esta comunidad que me ha dado tanto.

Naveguemos juntos por estas aguas inexploradas y ayudemos a nuestros estudiantes a tener una experiencia de aprendizaje a distancia productiva y segura. Este año será increíble, como siempre. ¡Goooooooo Dragons!
