Message From the Principal

It is with a heavy heart that I announce to you that I will be stepping down as the principal of this amazing school at the end of June. For the past three and a half years, I have had the absolute pleasure of leading Castelar and helping to turn it into one of the most dynamic schools in Los Angeles.

In reflecting back over the past three years, I’m thrilled about all the positive changes we have made, including the strong increases in academic achievement, the focus on character, and the positive changes in overall school culture. We have made the education at Castelar more about the whole child and less about test scores, and I think you can feel it the moment you walk in the building.  Students are happy, achieving, and engaged; teachers are supported and excited about their craft; and parents are engaged in their child’s learning and support for our school.​​

While I am proud of these changes, I am most proud of the amazing staff that has come to call Castelar home. This school is home to a staff of hard-working and remarkable people that care deeply about all of our kids! This is a building full of leaders and learners who are philosophically aligned to figuring out a better way to make education fun, engaging, and transformative. ​​

The decision I am making was not an easy one. I am going to miss the Castelar family tremendously.  I want you to know I am incredibly proud of everything that we accomplished together.  Being part of Castelar’s history will forever be one of the highlights of my career. It is with eternal gratitude that I thank you for your support and help in making Castelar so wonderful! This has truly been something WE have done TOGETHER!​
